I promise, with all of the pictures - this WAS his good side...
Yes, it is a giant Chess Set. Yes, the White King is missing. No, we don't know where it is... I think that someone tossed it overboard. Can you imagine being in the middle of the ocean and seeing a plastic King floating around... HAHAHAA! Ahem... back to our regularly scheduled program.
Though I don't have a picture of it, I want you all to know that a Macaw BIT THE BUTTON on my shirt in HALF. It was a red one like the ones in this picture...
Ahh - the classic "overlooking the ocean" picture. This one is one of my favorites from Xcaret. I think that I am going to blow it up and stick it in her room...
Rick took this picture. I know that everyone says that they like it but I feel like I am really stiff here. What's funny is that I wasn't stiff at all - I just feel like I LOOK stiff...
This is one of my favorite pictures from Xcaret for the dolphin encounters - LOOK! He can fly!! It's just like the hitchiker's guide to the galaxy - when the dolphins leave and sing "So long and thanks for the fish".
So, before we went on the cruise I bought Kennedy the clip on sunglasses for her to wear. This is one of the last pictures that we have of those because she left them on the ferry boat coming back to Cozumel. (Sigh) Oooh well - someone will have a lovely pair of clip on's to sell on Ebay! :)
Bye Bye Xcaret! We will DEFINITELY come back and visit you again.
We left to go on our cruise on September 17th - This was Kennedy's first cruise and well deserved. I will preface this with a few things - 1) The RULE around this joint is that they have to be 12 to go. (She is still 11 and her birthday is not until October, but this fell right at the perfect time). 2) She had to have good grades... and I don't mean just "Well, that was good", I mean "I can clearly see that you put forth effort and deserve this trip for your effort". She pulled straight A's out of nowhere the last semester of 5th grade. (She had C's in some classes, and pulled them up to A's.) So, We went on our cruise! And here are some pictures from that GRAND Event!
This picture was taken the morning that we were going to see the Dolphins at Xcaret - our port was Cozumel but we took the ferry over to the mainland. The day started off kind of cloudy and stormy looking, but it really improved as things burned off.
Kennedy got to swim with the dolphins for the first time! Though there were some people in her group that were just so full of themselves, Kennedy kept her eye on the prize (Mr. Dolphin). She swam with the mommies, and the babies, and she got to touch them and play with them a little. This was an earned reward from her dad for her hard work in school. I don't think that she will ever forget it either.
ALAS! The soft serve Machine!! She had been told wild and crazy stories about the wonders of the never ending soft serve machine from her grandpa - now the time had come for her to test it out - and she did... daily. Sometimes multiple times a day! This picture was the first time she tried out the soft serve... but there were many other times when she was caught with a bowl or cone as we went through the trip...
Her BLUE Card - that's to show that she's a first timer - the rest of us have GOLD cards... hahahaaa!
Ahhh, the delightfulness of the Warm Melting Cake - which K also ordered every night that she was on the boat. Warm Melting Cake, a scoop of Vanilla and a Scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream, along with her hot chocolate. I think that we have a choco-holic on our hands... maybe.
YES! She picked up the life preserver! See the rainbow behind her? If you don't you can always click to enlarge the picture and then you can see the rainbow behind her. Again, this was the morning we ported in Cozumel.
So, as you all probably know - we recently went on a cruise. BUT, before the cruise we had a birthday party for Darrell (A Surprise party with Star Wars Clone Wars stuff and even a cool R2D2 Cake made by Ozzie's Cake Designs). Darrell finally turned 8 years old. For those that are wondering, he is waiting to be baptized until family can make it in town. So, we will be doing that next April with his cousin - consider it a dual thing. Though, I think that we should be able to pick the venue since he's the one waiting... but that's just me. :)
Anyway - so, here are a few pictures from his rad-a-tad tad birthday party... Enjoy! (See, like we are enjoying the cake and stuff... yeah - you BETTER enjoy).
YODA SODA!! This was a party hit. Take some Lime sherbet, some Sprite (or 7-Up) throw in a little dry ice, and you have a lovely concoction that reminds you of the planet that Yoda lived on... Affectionately termed by D - Yoda Soda. :) Yummo is what it is... Just plain yummo.
The cake - ALAS - made by Ozzie's Cake Designs, this lovely, TASTY Chocolate cake was shaped like R2D2 - it was perfect for this party! (And, just FYI - we left, went on our cruise, came home, and the cake was still moist and delicious after a week! INCREDIBLE!!)
D helped to light the 8 candles that were on his R2 Cake
D Also helped cut his cake!
The party was a great success - thank you to HouseParty.com and Ozzie's Cake Designs. Here are some of the goodies that we gave away in the bags to take home...

So, a few nights ago - it was MUY MUY Windy outside. There was thunder, there was lightening, there was wind that just wouldn't stop blowing. The next day I was taking out some trash - I looked out the window, and behold - our tree in the backyard had been felled by the windy wind.
This was the tree with which firing squads (for the water fights) would take place. The tree where pumpkin pictures were taken from - the tree that gave us a little bit of shady shade in the back yard area of our little hovel.
I had no chance! The other day they brought in the chainsaw guys to haul it off piece by piece. The tree is no longer there. It is but a bare spot in our yard. OOOOH ! How we will miss thee - oh tree!

Oh yeah, they look excited don't they? The first day back to school was today. The kids met their teachers last week and both were certain that they were going to have a miserable year. However, at the end of the day today there was nothing but excitement regarding the classes that they both were in. I think that the biggest complaint that I got was from D - and he told me that he looked like a "smore" - with the graham cracker pants, the chocolate shoes, and the marshmallow shirt - Leave it to him to think of something like that - though there were plenty of other kids wearing the same thing since their school is a "uniform" school.
The homework started immediately - and day one is always the easiest - I'm just waiting to be tricked up - you know? When they start sending home those math and science questions that I don't have the answers to anymore... it's going to kill me! I wonder how many times I am going to have to "Learn" this stuff before I actually retain it. Anyway - here's to the new school year! Hoping it stays as smooth and soft as day one - CIAO

WATER FIGHT!!! That's right - Bring it!
Well, We decided that we wanted to do a little something different - so, today - we pulled out the water works and let the kids have a water fight. It started with just the three, but worked its way to 8 by the time that neighborhood kids got involved.
We did give the kids a few rules - for example- if you were refueling on the porch and someone shot you, that someone got the firing squad. If you shot someone from the safety of the porch, then you got the firing squad. Darrell got the firing squad a few times - actually... they all did... :)
My favorite pictures were the ones of Kennedy and Aspen - they were standing in the back waiting for some of the other kids to refuel and they started shooting each other. My favorite is the one where Kennedy turned to shoot someone else, and Aspen shot her in the back. HAHAHAHAA!
It's beautiful! Isn't it! :)
Anyway, the water fight is over - the kids have changed and are now dry once again and resting in front of the TV while I blog about the events of the day.
I didn't say a word about yesterday - that was another "first" - well, it has just been a really long time. We took the kids bowling - last week was bowling week, and the alleys were trying to set some sort of world record - so We printed out coupons to get free games, and off we went.
By the time we were done bowling 2 full games, we realized that the kids needed bumpers - and I rock at the bowling. So does Rick - he has his own ball for it though. It was a lot of fun - especially liked how the girls started to attempt a small hexing to make me bowl worse - unfortunately, that hocus pocus doesn't work on me! BWAHAHAA!!
