F.O.G. Soccer

Soooo - I almost witnessed a fight last night....  OK - no not really... but if Rick was about 15 years younger, it could have gone that route.  I even heard the phrase, "Bring it" slip from his mouth at the other player who was egging him on...

That's Right - I watch the F.O.G. play last night.  (That's the acronym for Fat Old Guys - but whose counting).  Anyway, here are some pictures from that lovely game.  I think that the most irritating part about the whole thing was that my camera lens kept focusing on the net instead of the stuff THROUGH The net... next time I will just have to get closer....
Tim played last night too... See Tim in all of his worn out foggy glory?  That's right...He would have been right there with Rick - he would have taken down the other team. Sadly, though, the F.O.G. didn't win - they were just outnumbered and winded.  They didn't have the kind of subs that the needed to have to play without dying in the second half.  If they had, they totally would have won - Oh well, there is always the next game... right?

U2 - Remember them??

Remember these guys?  You know, the group from Dublin Ireland??  You know, the group that has won 22 Grammy Awards, has more than 12 studio albums and has sold more than 145 million records?  How about the artists of songs such as: Pride (In the Name of Love), Vertigo, Beautiful Day, Mysterious Ways, Angel of Harlem, Bullet the Blue Sky, Elevation, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and so many others that I can't name them all here.
Well, it turns out that these guys are coming IN CONCERT to start off their 360 tour - Yup - to Salt Lake City.  June 3rd.  I will admit, they are not my favorite band - we all know that Depeche Mode is my favorite band of all time.  But, I have seen them in concert already.  I have also seen Matchbox 20, Creed, Staind, and even - that's right - New Kids on the Block.  However, I know that they do not hold a candle to U2.  They just don't.  We are talking about a group of musicians so eclectic that they can rehearse a song that is not even their own personal song, on the fly, and get it right - and perform it in front of millions of fans flawlessly.  FLAWLESS!
So, needless to say - I am on the prowl for tickets which will go on Sale on February 22nd - Monday.  And I better get them or I might just DIE.  I will keep you all updated.
And your final words in this Blob - LOVE AND PEACE OR ELSE!!

This is "MY" Pigeon.  MINE!
Actually, we have a lot of pigeons around the office.  But the other day this one caught my attention.  I had never seen a nest on any of our windowsills - and this one had built a nest.  She moved later on in the day and there are 4 little eggs in the nest right now.  I am going to keep my eye on this one here - just to see how things progress.  Anyway, I just wanted to share - it's not that exciting of a post, but it is what is going on right now in my world of work.

Recap on Pinewood Derby:

So, Pinewood Derby Time - This was Darrell's first year.  We let him make his car, and paint his car, and determine exactly what he wanted his car to be like.  There were many ups and downs with this process.  He's not the most patient kid on the planet, and he was discouraged that the paint didn't look perfect the first time around.  He had this idea of how he wanted the car to be, but he couldn't quite get it to his imagined status.

So, the car was finished and off to the races we went.  Darrell's car wasn't the fastest one out there, but it wasn't the slowest one out there either.  He got 4th, 3rd, 3rd and 2nd.  Discouraged at first but feeling a little bit better as the races continued on.  The first race he was up against his cousin (whose car made it to the finals.. YAY Nathan) so, it isn't surprising that he placed 4th in the first race. Of all the cars, I thought that his was the best looking one - but then again, I am a LITTLE biased on that one.  With the reds and blues, yellows and purples, well, you really can't go wrong.  And besides all of that - the car had FLAMES on it.  "And, everybody knows that cars look cooler with flames".  In the end he had 12 points and wasn't able to make it to the finals, but he got a cool ribbon and he learned about sportsmanship.  He's already starting on ideas for next year too.

Pictures that I finally got Developed

So, on my Birthday cruise in 2008, we went to Roatan (See, Roatan was ON my birthday - so way cool).  Anyway, while in Roatan I got to go snorkeling (because that's what I do.  I love the water... and the ocean... and the blue...)  So, I had the Underwater camera, but I had not developed it.  Why?  Well, I am not sure, I just know that it was sitting around in my case waiting to be developed.  But, I like to stare at it and say "There are some cool pictures on that there camera, there are". So, Kennedy was helping me with my room the other day (Sometimes my room becomes a breeding ground for all the junk in the house) and she said "Is that an underwater camera?" and I responded with a "Yeah.  It's from my birthday cruise"  And then she proceeds to tell me that she thinks that I need to get it developed.  So, off to the walgreens we go- and an hour later we have ... These...
While under the sea in Roatan, I got to see so many cool fish.  Rick gave being under water a shot, but he really did not prefer it.  He's a bit claustrophobic in all of the gear that he had to wear.  And with being under the water, and having to swim through the maze of coral (Yes, there was a MAZE of coral), well, lets just say that it wasn't his favorite "Excursion" of the cruise trip. But, it was definitely one of mine!!  So, there were several schools of fish that I got to swim right next to - so very neat.  I don't know what kind of fish they were, but they looked like Dory fish to me.  Probably wrong on that, but that's what they looked like.
Naturally, I give the undersea adventure a double dumb thumbs up.  I look funny in snorkeling gear, but so what?  This year, we are going to Roatan again, but this time I am taking Kennedy with me.  We are going to swim the open seas!!  She's been practicing treading water and all sorts of stuff just so she can be ready to go.  We are going to get her an underwater camera too - maybe she will come up with a school of fish or something.

Today is Uncle Pickle's Birthday!!

Today is my Brother, Cameron's Birthday!! He's affectionately known as "Uncle Pickle" to many of the kids... and since my mom comes up with some of the BEST ideas - I figured that I would snag one from her and do it.  It was just too clever to pass up.  So - Here is the result!  We really hope that Cameron has a Great 30th Birthday!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMERON - or UNCLE PICKLE!  We love you!!

So many things to talk about... so little time...

Well, in a whirlwind of excitement you all missed the School updates, The Pine-wood Derby, the fact that I am working out  - and I LOVE Yoga - my Mom came to Visit - and, that's right, I even got time off to go to the upcoming scrapbook Expo.

So, here is the latest with the Kids School - Perhaps if I am feeling up to it, I will also post the pictures for the Derby, and you can MAYBE check out the Blubber Blob to see what's going on with Weight-loss... yeah... I am rockin' in the free world.
This past week was parent teacher conferences with both of the kids teachers.

Darrell, well, the boy is just on fire.  He's got straight A's and he's doing great.  "Did you expect something else?" (As he, himself, asked his teacher)  His picture that he did of the Parthenon was chosen to display at the front of the school for the 2nd grade class.  He's very proud of it and I didn't get a picture of it because I didn't have my camera at the Parent teacher conference.  But, when he brings it home I will scan one so everyone can see it. It does look SO awesome.

Then there is Kennedy - who pulled her grades up each by a full letter grade.  Apparently being in the Student Body as the Vice President has it's perks.  She wants to stay in the student body so she has to work hard to keep her grades up, and so far, this is paying off for her.  What a great reward!  I honestly agree with the teacher, that being in the Student Body has been the best motivation for Kennedy, who (Quite Frankly) always needs a little extra pushing to stay on the right track.

Both of the teachers have high recommendations for each of the kids... and I ask (Just like Darrell)  Did you expect something else?
