A Sad Note:

I have a friend who makes the most lovely creations - I work with her and her Husband.  They recently had a premature baby and things were not going so well with their little one.  For those that knew of this family I wanted to let you know that their sweet, little man went back to his Heavenly Father today.  It's a very sad situation for this family but at the same time it may just be a blessing in disguise.  We wanted to send our love and prayers to this family during this time and if you need further information please let me know.  I will be happy to send it along.

The first month of Christmas:

Will be done in January! With (Sing aloud now) Cute washer necklaces... that I already bought all of the stuff for because they are amazingly inexpensive...

OK, so the song doesn't QUITE fit - but that doth not matter.  I saw this idea from another friend - and so I am going to give it a "GO".  With all of the online tutorials and help and ideas out there I figured - "I can do that too".  And so, I am.
See - the CUTE washer necklaces...
Anyway, on my search for tutorials on how to make these I found THESE too...

And you can't tell me that they aren't just adorable as well.
SO, naturally - me being the overachiever that I am - I got all of the stuff to make the glass pendants too.  I had made some before when I was with my mom - and when she told me how much the kit cost her I thought, "My word someone is making a fortune!" - together, all of the art supplies for 50 necklaces cost me less than 20.00.  I will be doing some step by step tutorials while I make them and post them on here so if you are trying to get ideas for your Christmas Giving in 2012, you will have an easy, inexpensive one to do.

February is going to be "Puzzle Jars" for the kiddies.  I am very excited about this one too!  I even bought some "Oops" to get rid of the Goop on some of my older Jars.

I think that March is going to be Aromatherapy Bags for the Ladies.

Will keep you posted!

Resolutions - Lists - Countdowns, oh my...

Each year I say that I am going to "resolve" to do this, and "resolve" to do that... you know, those New Year resolutions.  Half the time people quit around the 6 week mark and don't pick it up again until the next year.   People plan to lose weight, to eat better, to get organized.  I'm not waiting this year for my resolution list - nor am I "resolving" to do anything.  It just doesn't seem to work out when I do.

This year I have 52 weeks until the next year.  I have decided that I am going to do Christmas in 52 weeks instead of 4.  Novel Idea, eh?

You see?  We rush and Rush and RUSH - then we hit December 25th, and the 26th feels like a drag.  I had nothing to do today! (GASP).  Then it dawned on me that I could be starting things for next year already.  I could do it and put them aside.

Ahhh - but how would I know what anyone else would want?  Well, I don't.  And that's just too bad for you.  Didn't someone say that it was the "thought" that counted?  And I am constantly thinking that I want to try this or do that. If I just spent the kind of time on the crafty stuff that I love, then I am certain that whatever I made would be a welcomed gift next year... right?  I mean, half the stuff I see online I could make myself.  (But mostly because tutorials are our friends).

So, I hit the Michael's sale - got sponge brushes and paint at a really good price, and I've already started making my list for next year.  I hope you are on it, because it's going to be great.  I have the ideas for the kids already and, yes, it will be a lot of work.  But, I have a feeling that next year's Christmas is truly going to be the best one yet.

My late but Crafty Christmas Present

So, I admit that I saw these cuties on Pinterest - and I did covet them and want them all for myself! So, today I had the kids paint their feetsies and make me my very own.  They are not exactly like the ones that I saw on Pinterest - because whoever did them on there, well, they used different feet than the ones that I had here... and different paint, and paper, and colors... and you get it.

BUT, these are the best feet there are!  Original works of art made just for me!

This year I am going to be doing an "art wall".

I saw it done in a home that I had visited a few years ago.  The woman had taken her children's artwork through school years and framed the best pieces and put them on the walls.  I can't tell you how much I loved just staring at these pieces of art, and I had decided that one day I too would have an art wall in my home.  This is the year - and it will be tough to decide on the pieces of artwork that will go on the walls.   Creativity is going to be set to a higher standard to make it wall worthy... but these two pieces are sure to go since they were requested. Just wanted to share with those that are super crafty and like new ideas too.  If you would like to see the originals on Pinterest, just follow me or check out my boards.  If you need an invite to Pinterest, just message me and I will be happy - HAPPY - to Oblige.

This month is such a special one ...

That's right - there were Happy Birthday's here over the last few days.  The Misses finally changed over the marker to another year older than the year that he had to claim previously... It was a very exciting party with streamers, cake, clam chowder, and pressies - Yeah, The kids did great on that!  :)  Apparently, due to the way the balloon was numbered, I will be getting a story about it in the future...

Anyway, That night we tucked all of the cute ninja's into their beds. Being oh so stealthy, we headed to bed ourselves and decided to wake up early to finish everything up.  Actually, the kiddos knew that we weren't going to get started til' later - Dee Dee was very happy as she wanted to "Sleep in" like a normal teenager.  The Morning was really very happy. The ex came to spend Christmas with us and to dole out the presents.  The kids got so many things - and yes, I made those awesome Jammy pants that you see in this picture.  Those are lovely, aren't they?  I would say that they are the most amazing Jammies that ever existed, but, I am a teensie bit biased.

Per the request of the Gpas and Gmas I am posting the pictures of the haul that each of the kiddos got. Minus Squiggly.  This is because Squiggly was not here to take pictures when it dawned on me that a picture would be needed to complete this blog.  Sorry in advance... Anyway, This is D-man with all of this years goodies.  His favorites were everything but he's especially excited for Halo, and his sword, and his gun, and the violin, and the static kit - oh, and the Angry Birds game, and the art kit, and his gyroscope, and his Yo-Yo.  You know, I really think that he liked it all.  Thank you to everyone that helped to provide D-man with so many new, neat things to enjoy.  I know that he had a great time helping to make Christmas for a few of you too.

Dee Dee! This year she had ONE thing on her list, followed by a few others.  The one thing, and we didn't tell anyone else about it, was a certain Camera.  I went out on Black Friday to secure the little jewel and it was the very first thing under the tree this year.  She even asked a few times if I remembered - I told her that I did, but that I just didn't know if we could make it happen... bwahahahaaaa.  I think that secretly she already knew - but it was still fun to TRY to trick her.

"What is this? Mah Camera? See me take da peectures wif it?"

Dee Dee got a lot of things that were on her list this year too. She got a glue gun and puffy, fuzzy balls with the googlie eyes to hot glue on.  (She makes these cute little critters that she gives out to her friends and what not).  She got a Gir hoodie and Purse (One of her favorite cartoon characters).  A Ute's sweatshirt, Jammies, a scarf and gloves, a Radio, the GREEN box (which will be passed on next year for fear of the bad JuJu, and so many other things.  Earrings, gift cards, hair bows, journals.... oh, don't worry - I could keep going.  And in her usual fashion, she took it all up to her room to organize it neatly. That's my girl.

This Morning - D-man helped to make breakfast from Scratch.  He did biscuits from scratch, eggs, sausage, and country gravy. BOOYAH! However, that being said, he didn't have a round cutter - so all of the biscuits were shaped like Stars. D-Man did a great job on breakfast, AND he gets to sign off something in his Bear Scout book without knowing it... I love it when they do stuff just because and then they get to sign off stuff in one of their books! TOTALLY My FAVORITE THING!

AND FINALLY!  In t he midst of everything else.  Dee Dee got makeup for Christmas.  The Ex feels that she wears too much makeup, which I think is ridiculous because all she has is base and mascara - this year we introduced (Drum roll please) Eye-shadow. *GASP!* Not just eye-shadow, but the kind that has colors - like blue and purple.  Oh, sure, I got neutrals too - but every girl needs a little color in her life - right?  Just look at her face?  Isn't that a face that looks like it needs a little more adventure?  OK, maybe not - but we were going for a little bit of it anyway.   So, today we had a lesson in how to apply, (APPROPRIATELY), eye makeup.

She's not really interested in Eye-liner, so we didn't get her any of that yet.  And she's not interested in blush or lipstick - so that's out too.  BUT, we do have 6 lovely colors of eye shadow for her to choose from (thank you Mary Kay consultant, Kimberly).

And we all had a fantastic few days away from work.  I am coming down with a cold, but the Misses says that I need to quit whining about that - as he trudges up to bed at 7:00PM tonight claiming that he's beat.  We hope that you and your families all had a fantastic Christmas too - and we have already started plans for Next Christmas. Yes, you read that right - this year I am going to be more organized!  I am going to get things done early!  I AM GOING to stick to those resolutions! (But that's for another post).

All I want for Christmas... is me

I Love Christmastime - Why? Because it's the time of the year closest to the celebration of me.  It's the time of year when everyone starts to sing songs of Aonika - And why shouldn't they?  Am I not most amazing?  I am.  So, though not all of these are Christmas songs, they are songs where you can sing my name.  No need to thank me - you are welcome!  I appreciate you singing my praises!

To start we have:
Centerfold - by the J. Giels Band - how does this one work?  Well, just simply add in my name... "My blood runs cold - my memory has just been sold - Aonika is the centerfold! Aonika is the centerfold..."

The Hanukkah song - by Adam Sandler - This should be so easy.  My name Rhymes with EVERYTHING! I love this song.

Slide - by the Goo Goo Dolls - "Put your arms around me! What you feel is what you are and what you are is Aonika... " (See how easy that fits?)

Walking in Ao-nik-ah's Wonderland - you know... the sleigh bells ring?  Are you listening? (Giggle)

The Christmas Song - Chestnuts roasting on Aonika's Fire...  Aonika's nipping at your nose.... Yule tide carols, being sung by Aonikaaaaaa!!! And folks dressed up like Aonika tooooooo..... Everybody knows, an Aonika and some Mistletoe - help to make the season bright.  .. ... "

Silent Night - You love this one - Round Yon Aonika, crazy and wild.

And just for fun - you can add a few other things. One of my favorites is Deck the Hall - why? Because of the second verse - "See the blazing Mule before us!" oooh. I know that it's Yule... but still... it's so much more fun to think of a Mule Blazing before us...

The evening can then be completed with a myriad of other musical treats such as:

Aonika - the red nosed employee...

Aonika the snowomanofawesomeness

The Aonika and the Mouse

Fum Fum Aonika (I know that this one sounds tricky, but think of it - With Aonika's awesomeness sing Fum Fum Fum ...)

And "Aonika Ride" ... a new treat this year for all."come on, it's lovely weather for an Aonika Ride together with you....."

Anyway - I know that they are not all Christmas songs - but I figured that they are fun anyway.  I have more... but just wanted to leave a few with you to get the juices flowing...

HAPPY SINGING - be creative - and don't forget that my name is the best name to insert anywhere in your song. BWAHAHAHAAA

Have you all seen this place?
It is truly my newest weakness.  I can spend hours and hours on this website all day long looking at crafts, and ideas, and recipes, and things that other people are doing for Christmas presents.  It's an amazingly addictive site!

How did I get started you wonder?
Well, apparently someone has to send you an invite.  Oh sure, you can go to their site and request to become a part of the place, but then you are on a waitlist and you never know when you are going to be added into the loop.  BUT, if you are really lucky then you can have someone invite you and then you can be part of this massive crafty party online as well.  I must say, it's the biggest "Time-waster" that I have ever been involved with, but I can't stop now!  I have too many things pinned on my walls.  SO, if you are reading this blob, and you do not have an invite to Pinterest yet, but you WANT one - please just let me know.  I will be happy to send you an invite so you can join in my addiction.  And it is just that - a serious, serious addiction.
SEE! Look at some of these cute things!

Bland Blob?

So, the other day I came to my blob, and there were lines down the center - everything was way off, nothing matched - it was so ugly!  So, I decided to try out a few new templates.  However, what I ended up with what Blobbly Blah - How is this for a blob to be?  There's no color - ooooh, I know that I can customize it, but Blobber's new stuff is difficult to navigate.  I liked the dynamic stuff, but then I lost my list of blobs that I follow... Reading their training didn't help much either.  So, Yuck - Yuck Yuck Yicky Yuck to the new Blobber.  I am sure that I will figure it out, but right now - I just want to say YUCK.

Making Christmas, Making Christmas, La la La...

It's the Christmas Season again - time to get out those goal books, where you start planning the season, Planning next year, making resolutions - making Christmas - Making ... well, Stuff.

This year we are doing a lot of "making", "baking", and "taking".  I read on another website that something like 65% of all gifts this year will be homemade.  Now, I am also familiar with the fact that statistics can be manipulated, but since the majority of our gifts to others this year were homemade - well, I can't really argue the statistic that was set before me on that particular website.

One of the things that we decided to do was pictures.  Now, I have never professed to be a great photographer like my sister.  In fact, though I do say that I have a good Eye for it (Some say I have two eyes for it), my equipment is really sub-par for what I want to do.  My brain knows that it would like to see in a picture, and no matter what I do, I just can't get it to do it.  So, I take lots and lots of pictures trying to get that ONE shot - and it just doesn't seem to turn out the right way.  You might see a lot of those coming out of me in recent days -

So, to start - the picture above was taken after our power was knocked out during a wind storm a few weeks ago.  Rarely do I have the candles out - as much as I love candles, Ricky-roo doth not like them at all.  So, I don't bust out the candles that frequently.  But, with them out, I just got this idea - and I really love the glow.  So, I took a deep breath - held it as long as I could and steadied myself since I didn't have my tripod with me.  I was fond of the result, But I wanted more - I didn't get it that evening but I did get a few really good ideas.

Lights - yes, that's right - Lights.  Lights down at the Gallivan Center. Why there?  Because Temple Square was an absolute zoo the night that we went.  It was cold - it was miserable - there were people EVERYWHERE - and I don't know what it is, but people in large quantities amounts to terrible traffic because suddenly you lose your capacity to know how to drive appropriately.  Don't ask me why - it's just a personal observation.  But, we did go to the Gallivan center - where I played around with the settings on my camera and tried to get some interesting light pictures - Brokeh I think is what they call this.  I don't care what they call it really - it's pretty.

Besides that , I can use this image to make a lovely scrapbook page.  And for me, isn't that what it's all about anyway?  I think that one of my new years resolutions will be digital scrapbooking though.  Not that I don't like all of the paper and stuff, but I would really like to just drag and drop and make things completed... faster. (Insert smiley here)

This was one of my favorite pictures of the whole night.  When shooting with my Aperture setting, my shutter speed adjusts accordingly and I can't figure out how to speed it up even when I change my aperture.  So, It was, "Take a deep breath and hold still for as long as you can".  This also means that (because the kids can't hold still for forever while my camera does it's thing) that the majority of pictures were blurry.  But sometimes, they would just move - and I would get that cool "Ghostie" effect... this was not the type of picture, but I can appreciate it just the same. :)  He gave it a good effort - no, he really did.

Either way, I Love Christmas lights.  I will be taking a lot more pictures while they are out for me to play around with. You might be sick of them by the time I am through, but that's alright. . . I don't mind.
