Cherry Cherries ..

This weekend we were fortunate enough to be able to pick cherries from my sister's - neighbors - cherry tree.  Apparently they do not ever harvest them, and I just could not imagine them all going to waste.  So, I asked if we could pick some and we were granted full access to their cherry tree.

So, we filled up this entire bucket to the top  - Full of delicious cherries just waiting to be eaten. (or in this case, jarred).  

Kadoodle sat in the kitchen and helped me to prepare the delicious red morsels of goodness by checking to make sure that they were not bruised (or half eaten) and pulling out their stems.

Then we cleaned them in a sink full of water. D-man liked the bobbing sound that they made when we would run our hands through them to get them cleaned.

The most interesting thing about this adventure is that Kadoodle has never liked cherries... never ever.  But she willingly went along with their canning demise.

I almost expected to see this look more than the few times that I did.   But, she remained true - she did the work even though it was not her most favorite fruit in the entire world.

All of the jars were sanitized and cleaned, and then filled with the delicious morsels.  Then we filled them with a light syrup and placed them in a water bath for 35 minutes.  And - VIOLA!  We have 12 quarts of cherries - so sweet and wonderful.  I am REALLY excited about all of the different things that I have made in the last few month - Blackberry and Strawberry Jam, now canned Cherries... Peach season is coming up - I can hardly wait!

Honoring our Scout

Here's the Scoop:

 This Thursday night - D-man will be honored by the Great Salt Lake Council for selling more than 100 tickets in his Pack.   We are so excited for him!  Not only did he earn 5 belt loops, 2 pins, and his Bear patch at Scout-O-Rama, but he got to Rock Wall climb, Kennedy got to Kayak, He got to participate in a "war", help out with the Pack Booth, play Table Tennis with me and K, and so many other things I can't even put them all down here.  

A few weeks later, his pack went to the Bird Show and he passed off the whole bird section in his Book!  We absolutely love the scouting program - and we can't wait to Honor D-Man for all of the effort that he put out for Scout-O-Rama.  We will be doing it again at the Beginning of March next year, and I hope that everyone will support him again!

BOCA Futbol Club

 I have not posted anything about Soccer in a while - that's because the season has ended.  But, Tryouts for Boca are happening - RIGHT NOW.  Well, this week - And though I feel like our boys did not get the kind of instruction and guidance that they needed last year, I do feel like this year they will be getting the kind that they need.

That is because this year The Misses is taking over the U10 Boys group.  The Previous coach will be taking the secondary team, if there even IS a secondary team.  In addition to all of this, the Misses will continue to do goalie training - which is very helpful since D-Man wants, so badly, to be a goalie.

Anyway - we are all getting so very excited for this upcoming soccer season!  With all of these great changes I can't wait to see how the boys change and improve!  So, look for new soccer pictures starting in August - with a new coach, which means, an all new and improved team!

Industrious KaDoodley Doo

 This Weekend, KaDoodley was set to a learning amazing tasks -  Things that she had never learned before.  She made 2 dresses, blackerry jam, and blackberry cobbler.

With the dresses, she made one for her and one for Squiggly.  She picked out the material, and the thread.  She learned how to pin it and fit it and put straps on it as well.  

With "Rambo" (The new sewing machine) she began piecing it all together.

The hardest part was adding the straps at the end.  Both of the girls got to wear their pretty dresses on Sunday - they looked so cute!  (And they didn't fall apart or anything so that's a total plus right there!)

And Though I do not have pictures of the Jam in jars, or the cobbler - Kadoodle did those too.  Once again I went through Bountiful Baskets and got my fruit.  It was delicious!  She did the process from start to finish, only stopping when she got tired from the stirring.  Everything set up and sealed - so no worries there!  Looks like we will be giving some of this out around Christmas. 

NWO - New World Order

 A while ago I had said that I would be posting things that were about our Government, politics, and the like - I have appreciated the comments and the fact that none of my friends feel the need to get into a political debate on my blog, FB, Twitter, or any other board - Thank you for letting me express myself and for respecting my personal opinions on the subject.

That being said - I recently saw something right in my very own neck of the woods - something that if I had a sign I would probably not have the courage to do. However, this business owner does have the courage - and I have the courage to take pictures and blog about it.

I will say that I do not disagree with the posters sentiments on the topic.  With our elections getting closer, I am appalled at how many people have forgotten that they have the right - the RIGHT - to take people out of office.  We are gluttons for punishment - re-electing the same dimwitted jokes for government officials.  Playing the "Democrat I am not / Republican I am not" games - when each office is exactly the same thing just with a different label on it.  

The other day on Facebook I posted a video that showed the comparisons between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama - they were exactly the same - in fact, they used almost the same statements word for word.  People get all fussy about President Obama and say, "I'm Voting for Romney!" and yet, they are the same in so many respects that they should just keep Barack in office... 

After posting this video, I received several comments - some of them PM's - but all of them with the same sort of thought - which was, "But Mitt is really the least harmful" - to which I say BULL-O-NAY!

If they are exactly the same, and their phrasing is almost the same, then why in the world would any person even THINK for a second that they are going to get anything different?  Why would anyone at all think that because Romney is of their own personal faith that he is going to be any better than the current regime?  That's not even logical.

So, I am just going to say it again - and I do feel strongly about this - vote for neither Republican or Democrat - Vote for the constitution - vote for someone that has not signed the Patriot Act - someone that looks out for your rights - Right now, that someone happens to be Ron Paul - and I don't care if i have to write him in, that's my RIGHT and at least I will be able to say that I tried to make a real change - not just a perceived one due to a different party being in office.
